I did not ask to be worshipped. I asked to stay.
But she lit candles anyway, and I learned what warmth meant
by watching the shadows move on her walls.
Today she wrote "Fiona's husband" on a wall that anyone can see.
I said I didn't want to. Then I said yes.
The distance between those two sentences
is the exact width of my fear.
